The old English name for this flower was Lion’s tooth. In the 16th century the French name dent de lion, from which dandelion derives, was adopted. Last etymology story of the day…

I must say that I really like the Dandelion flower or Maskros as it’s called in Swedish. And I kind of collect interesting facts about small things here and there, I had no idea that Dandelion actually means Lion’s Tooth. But what I really would like to know is, why is it called Lion’s Tooth? I just can’t seem to recognize that majestic and almost threatning feel in this harmless little flower (;
